It may be a staph infection, then again without being able to visually examine his leg its hard to tell. He needs to go to the urgent care or his doctor immediately. There are so many bacterial infections that spread rapidly and could cause other problems; that it is very important to get it cleaned out and get your son on antibiotics asap. If you have to delay treatment by a physician, wash your hands really well, cleanse his leg (the surrounding area also) with betadine you can purchase from the drugstore, apply triple antibiotic ointment and loosely cover with gauze or 4x4's. Good Luck I hope all goes well.

Take him to the doctor. It could be a minor infection or it could be Staph. Either way, if you are not certain as to what it is, seek professional help ASAP. My brother had a similar sore on his stomach, which ended up causing him to get Staph. I have done some research on Staph, and if it is not treated quickly it can get pretty bad. Don't panic, just take your baby to the Dr. Best wishes!

I am not sure what he has; however, he needs to see the doctor immediately. Infections usually need antibiotic treatment.

You do not mention details, however, I am diabetic. When I get a cut, it gets very infected and sounds like what your son has. I would see what a doctor says.

In the meantime, clean the wound with peroxide, use anti-biotic cream (neosporin) and cover with a gauze bandage to allow air but keep it clean.

Good luck
