Yeah, I read the title of the article on Yahoo, however I think this runs thru a lot of folks minds anyway......
why do so many people treat animals w/kindness over people, and then there's of course people who are nice to other's but have little compassion for animals?
My Mother inlaw looks down on me (I can sense it by some comments that's she's made) for wanting to do volunteer work for wildlife vs. for people.
Then I have this friend of mine who was very opinionated about the fact that I had started sponsoring someone, and it seems as though she was annoyed because I wasn't sponsoring an animal--ridiculous!!!!!
(why can't we all feel love, compassion for BOTH people AND wildlife......that goes for the environment as well)
anyway, I like helping anything alive, just get sick of my personal choices being judged!
So why is it then? --That some out there prefer or think they have to make a choice almost to some extent. (well I think most folks are equally as nice to both actually

You do your thing, you sound like a really nice person, to other people and the little critters. Good for you, don't listen to others.

No, i do not imagine all animals should be dealt with both. i do not imagine that is incorrect, both, for individuals to eat animals like chicken, fish, cows, goats and so on because we are component of the nutrients chain. most of human beings have a tendency to forget that human beings are not any further excluded from the circle of existence - in basic terms because we are civilized does no longer advise we are above ingesting different creatures. we want to eat meat; that is so common as that. on the different hand, we do not eat human beings, so murdering yet another man or woman is inaccurate because that is unnecessary. 'A deer being shot seen as a interest' - i imagine you're pertaining to poaching, it truly is unquestionably unlawful. Any type of searching which could no longer for the purpose of nutrients-collecting is seen poaching. in reality, even hunting for the purpose of nutrients-collecting has been outlawed in a lot of international locations which incorporates England and France. finally, all animals might want to no longer be dealt with both because animals are very diverse from one yet another, it truly is why they are labeled into diverse diverse sorts, species, and so on. diverse animals have diverse natures and for this reason they ought to no longer be standardized.

For me, animals are completely innocent and undeserving of unfair treatment. People on the other hand are rude, obnoxious, inconsiderate, selfish, are far from innocent and have the capacity to defend themselves; not just physically but mentally! People have the one thing animals do not complex thinking and problem solving capabilities that they can use to better there situations, animals do not.

You answered your own question.... some people prefer to help animals because they dont complain when they help out people too... Really though I understand, our circle of compassion should include ALL life.

Compassion, in which all ethics must take root, can only attain its full breadth and depth if it embraces all living creatures and does not limit itself to mankind.
Albert Schweitzer

PS I help animals and people equally when the opportunity arises... but if you asked me why I PREFER to help other species more than my own.. just take a minute to think about how many animals do the horrible things people do, the answer is NONE they are better than many of us...

The fact that man knows right from wrong proves his intellectual superiority to the other creatures; but the fact that he can do wrong proves his moral inferiority to any creatures that cannot. ~Mark Twain, What Is Man, 1906

Wild animals never kill for sport. Man is the only one to whom the torture and death of his fellow-creatures is amusing in itself. ~James Anthony Froude, Oceana, 1886

Heaven is by favor; if it were by merit your dog would go in and you would stay out. Of all the creatures ever made [man] is the most detestable. Of the entire brood, he is the only one... that possesses malice. He is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. ~Mark Twain

The indifference, callousness and contempt that so many people exhibit toward animals is evil first because it results in great suffering in animals, and second because it results in an incalculably great impoverishment of the human spirit. All education should be directed toward the refinement of the individual's sensibilities in relation not only to one's fellow humans everywhere, but to all things whatsoever. ~Ashley Montague

We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals. Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it. Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, humanity will not find peace. ~Albert Schweitzer, The Philosophy of Civilization

If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men. ~St. Francis of Assisi

Animals are trustworthy. They are not vindictive or nasty. If they attack, it is usually a natural reaction, not a premeditated attack. I prefer them to people
