I would try putting hot packs on it and if it is an infection it should soften it and cause it to come to a head. Then you can keep using the hot packs to keep it open while also using peroxide to clean it and keep it from forming again. If it's not an infection it may be scar tissue but it sounds liike an infection. Good luck.

Is it red and painful? If so, it's probably infected. The best thing to do for an infected belly ring is to soak it in warm soapy water three times a day for about 20 minutes each time. Use antibacterial soap mixed in the water. The best way to "soak" it is to fill a tupperware or similar small container with soapy water, bend over and attach it to your belly, then straighten up (in a chair or something), so it kind of suctions to your belly. I had to do this several times when I first got it pierced.

The other thing is that it may not be infected, it may be scar tissue. Some people form a large puffy scar, called a keloid, around their piercings. If it's not painful and red, this may be the case. If it is, there's not much you can do about it. A doctor can sometimes inject it with a steroid, but this doesn't always help.

Good luck!

Some people develop little cysts around new piercings.

One thing that sometimes works is to soak the cyst in hydrogen peroxide twice a day for a few weeks.

Soak a cotton ball in regular OTC hydrogen peroxide until it's dripping, and apply to the cyst for 10 minutes twice a day.

It won't hurt, and it might help.

But belly piercings are notorious for a) getting infected and b) being rejected (i.e. your body just pushes the jewelry out).

You could go back and see your piercer, too, for more advice.

And if it gets hurts or gets oozy or smells bad or you see a red line or you run a temperature, then it's time to stop fooling around and see the doctor. DON'T TAKE THE JEWELRY OUT unless the doctor tells you to. Removing it can close up your body's only avenue for draining the bad stuff...
