It shouldn't even be a sport all it is is a bunch of retards driving around a track 200 times and seeing who is the fastest. Only southern people or the midwest like it.

Sounds like a retard asking the question to Me. Seriously, for you to say it is not a sport, your nothing but a "anti-Nascar bandwagon jumper". You probably have no clue what your talking about. Tell Me, could you get in car, with the temp in side the car at about 120 degrees, go 200 mph on track with a high degree of banking and be able to hold on to the steering wheel? Do you think these guys are just "driving"? There is so much more to this "sport" than driving in circles, and I can already tell by the ignorant way you phrased your question, that I would be wasting my time typing what this "sport" involves. FYI - if you think its just southern people and midwest people that like the sport, your more "retarded" than I originally thought.

If only southern people or midwest people like it, then why is it by far the fastest growing sport on earth, and second only to football. Not to mention the Daytona 500 which is Feb. 18 has more viewers than the World Series, Super Bowl, World Cup or Olympics, and is by the far the highest selling spectator event. Also NASCAR is the #1 Spectator sport, so the fact that almost one third of this country watches it, either means that you are wrong, or that more people than you think like it.

Newsflash, your in the message board area, so that proves that your an idiot, otherwise you wouldnt be wasting your time writing the question, and uh their are more tracks on the east coast and west coast and all over for that matter, and not just people from the south or midwest like it its a nationwide sport, and dont be stereotyping people especially when you dont like the sport, which I emphasize it is a SPORT!!!! Cheerleading is a sport, and a bunch of other things are a sport, like dance, pool, chess, etc, so I dont see how racing is any different, especially since you couldnt even do what they do. I wont go into details because I'm already wasting my time. Thats the funnest part about it watching them go around the track 200 times and seeing who leads the most laps or who wrecks and all the drama then seeing who wins the race. My favorite sport ever. No offense to anyone if thye are involved in the previous sports I mentioned but they are still considered sports no matter what.

Restrictor plates. They bunch up the field, cause superwrecks, kill people (Earnhardt), and shorten careers.
Instead of choking the engines on the superspeedways, why not take 2 cylinders out of them? Use V-6s at Talledega, Daytona, and the 2-mile tracks. NASCAR has breathed new life and new technology into the 50-year old V-8 that used to only get 10 miles to the gallon. Think what NASCAR research could do for a V-6 that already gets twice that mileage.

You are such a idiot. Only a "guy" who likes to see sweaty, no teeth dudes skate around for two hours and try to flip, knock or whatever the yanks say for getting the cow chip into the net well...I guess enough said.

Go to a race, feel the power of the engines as they glide by at 200 mph, watch the driver squeeze within inches of two other cars and nearly, just nearly graze the concrete wall as he rounds the curve in turn three. What a rush of total adrenaline. I, a girl, could out race you on any track, I live for Nascar!!!!! and if you don't ~ you are a DWEEB!!!!!! See ya at Dega Sucker!! (Dega aka ~~a racetrack in Alabama ~~ Talladega, Alabama)

Well, all the nascar fans here have made excellent points, I just want to add...I am not from the south or the midwest, I'm not a drunk, I own my own company and pull in a six figure income, and I am a HUGE fan of Nascar. So apparently all of your assumptions of Nascar fans can be proven wrong. People who assume Nascar fans are poor, drunk rednecks from the south or midwest, are ignorant. Should all Nascar fans go to the hockey page and ask stupid questions? We've got better things to do with our time.

Different Strokes for Different folks. There is a lot of money in it. There is a huge following. You get to have your opinion and others to theres. I find some sports boring while other sports, people really get in to. I have found people haven't liked: Bowling, Golf, Basketball (NBA or College or both), Football, soccer, etc.
Then there are the folks that do like it.

so only normal Americans (anyone not in New York or Los Angeles) like NASCAR.......I much rather be associated with real people than idiots like you (is retard politically correct?) You probably couldn't even get the car started. Its a little different than your Kia. Let me know about all the excitement at your next wine tasting/soduku party.

You try keeping a car from crashing into a wall going 200mph.

Personally I like watching it, because there is alot of stratagy to racing. Plus cars like the Monte Carlo, the Dodge Charger, Ford Fusion, & now Toyota Camry have sales increase because of the cars used in NASCAR.

Opps... I'm a midwesterner so maybe I'm to dumb and boring to answer. But, you probably drive a kia and spend the majority of your time behind the wheel in the pharmacy drive thru and picking up dry cleaning. So I guess I can't really blame ya, that is boring. Me on the other hand, my dad's a wrencher (that's "mechanic" in redneck) and I love my car. Motorsports are like algebra, ya get it or ya don't. Most people don't have the opportunity to drive 200 mph and I think those of us whose favorite part of the freeway is the on-ramp expereince racing through the drivers. How can you not get excitied when you hear all that horsepower!?!
