I am assuming you mean social anxiety.... my friend did, and it only worked for a couple months, and then it was as if he became immune to it. I took it for generalized anxiety and it didn't do anything at all. It works differently for everyone.... it is based on what chemicals paxil adjusts in your brain.
I suggest getting counseling while taking the drugs.... thats the best method for curing anxiety. Also exercise.

I don't think Paxil is FDA approved for the treatment of shyness. Shyness typically comes from a low self-esteem, or even just a personality trait, but it's not a medical condition.
Now, Paxil is approved by the FDA for anxiety. If you experience anxiety while you are around groups of people, or while publicly speaking for example, then it can help reduce the anxiety you experience in these situations, enabling you to cope better in public.

Paxil for shyness? That's a new one. It's supposed to be for Anxiety and Depression. It's not a super drug that is going to automatically make you come out of your shell or give you more confidence, but it will help you relax a bit so that you aren't so worked up about whatever you are shy about.

I took Paxil... although not for shyness. There weren't really any side effects for me, other than the occasional drowsiness.

Do not get on Paxil or any other anti-depressant for shyness--thats absurd! Any doctor who tells you that is wrong. Those drugs affect your brain chemistry very strongly, and you dont need to change your brain chemistry just because you are shy. Many famous people were very shy as children: Beyonce, Prince, and many others. God made you shy in one area, but you are probably great in other areas. There's nothing wrong with being shy!

Do you suffer from panic and anxiety attacks? If so you are not alone, it is said that just over 35% of the population will suffer at some point in their life. I suffered for 10 long years, until I finally found the answers I needed to be able to cure myself. Read here https://tr.im/EndAnxiety
So, yes, anxiety is treatable and no matter how many false dawns you've had so far, you don't have to just live with it
