yes, it is a Spanish word which means snowfall or snow storm. It is pronounced Nay vah tha in Spanish and Nuh va duh in English. English doesn't try to imitate the language of origin usually in pronunciation. This is one of those cases.

i'm no longer confident who the choose might want to be for that reason. My English acquaintances are somewhat entertained by technique of ways human beings pronounce particular words - and chuckles take position any incorrect way round also. Neither has a case for criticizing the different. Languages are organic and organic and by no ability "owned" by technique of their usa of beginning. in spite of everything, all you should do is study modern-day estuary English with the version from the 40's to make certain that even the "Queen's English" has replaced. (Even Lizzie's own speech has replaced interior the in basic terms right 60 years.)

The people who live in Nevada have every right to pronounce any word any way they darn well please. It is their state, they can call it whatever they want. You are an arrogant snob if you presume that you can tell people how to pronounce the name of their home. I think I will tell you that your nick "Robin" should be pronounced robe-EEN. You are pronouncing it wrong if you say ROB-in. You must change to suit my fancy. :p Get a life. It's their state and they can call it whatever they want.

Nuh va duh is the English pronunciation. Nae-bah-dah is the Spanish way. People in that state, however, mix up the two and pronounce it Ne-vah-dah. Just like salsa, English speakers pronounce it sul-suh, which is wrong. It's supposed to be sahn-sah.
