Could be heartburn. Get some Maalox. If it continues you need to cut back on acidity foods. If it gets to be to painful could be a ulcer, ulcers usually come with a lot of pain that is unbearable. I thought I was dying. If you continue to have these problems go to the doctor with all seriousness it can be dangerous. I started these problems when I was 28 and if I would have known my life would have been a lot better. I'm a lot older and have terrible upper digestive problems.

Only way to know if it is an ulcer it to see a doctor. If burning and gas are involved, it could just be bad acid reflux. Take some Imodium, it works great for many stomach problems. If this goes on for more than a day or two, then it could be a stomach virus or something you might have eaten that your stomach did or does not agree with. The best thing to do if this continues is to see your doc.

it's probably HEARTBURN. Here are some things you can do to treat it & prevent it:
If you smoke, learn how to quit ASAP
Do not drink any caffeine for at least 2-3 months
Drink lots of water, all day, every day
Exercise
Limit your sugar intake, such as chocolate
Eat at least 3-4 hours before you go to sleep
Do not lay down after eating, wait 3-4 hours before laying down
Cut out junk foods
Eat more fruits & vegetables daily
You won't know if you have an ulcer till a doctor diagnosis you. It is necessary to make an appointment to be safe. Ask him to prescribe you something for Heartburn. My list up there is actually much better then asking the doctor for medication. Ask him, he will probably say the same =)

The most common symptom of an ulcer
Gnawing or burning pain in the abdomen between the breastbone and navel.
This pain usually occurs between meals and in the early hours of the morning. Duration of the pain is from a few minutes to a few hours and may be relieved by eating or taking antacids.
Less common symptoms of an ulcer
Nausea
Vomiting
Loss of appetite
Loss of weight
Bleeding from ulcers
If blood loss is slow, it may not be obvious. People suffering from slow bleeding may feel tired and weak. If the bleeding is heavy, blood will appear in vomit or stool. Stools containing blood appear tarry or black.

There's a bad stomach virus that is going around...it can start with gas and a burning sensation in the belly. Try to stay hydrated. Good luck.

That happens to me sometimes when I drink alcohol or have something really spicy- as weird as it sounds milk seems to help I also take peptobismol when I'm at work. As for what's wrong with you only a doctor can give a definite answer.
