I am contemplating buying a new Cleveland HiBore driver. I hit one at the driving range and it was amazing. But now, there is a new model out (HiBore XL in regular and Tour versions). The price for the new model is $299 and it's just been released for sale at some of the online outlets. The older version (only a year old) is selling for about the same at retail outlets but around $165 on ebay. I'm wondering if I should go ahead and get the older version or should I get the newer version. I'm wondering if anyone has seen any reviews of the new one that I could access online. Also, has anyone used last year's model and what do you think of it?

Price shouldn't be an issue if you look at it as an investment.

Personally I think Cleveland makes a great drive.

I own the Cleveland Launcher Comp. and this how I decide its time to upgrade:

I take my old club and the club that I am thinking about buying and i bring them to a launch monitor. Most good outlets will have one.

If the new one doesn't out drive my old one, then I keep the old one. If there is improvement worth my $200 or $300 then I buy it.

I have yet to try the XL but the ol HiBore is not better than my Launcher.

Good luck.

The hi-bore and the hi-Bore XL have not got a huge distinction. And, there isnt lots distinction between the XL and new XLS. although, there's a distinction between the hi-Bore and the XLS. for my area, I only offered the XL and prefer it, additionally offered the Halo hybrids 2 and 3 and love those besides.

well, it really depends on how you play golf, if your really serious about it, like making money and crap at golf in tournaments, then yea, buy the hibore XL, but if you just go out to any old course with your friends, then just get the cheaper version, because eiuther way its a good club..
