evangelism is counterproductive on its own. you shouldn't be forced into believing in God, nor should you have to pay for salvation.

I like your question.
What needs to be understood is that everyone has a conscience, and every moral action holds merit be it good or bad. It's not simply that people who "never hear of Jesus" aren't in danger of hell; circumstance and types of ignorance come into play. Now, how that relates to evangelism, well, I personally wouldn't have a problem knifing the Jehova Witnesses who knock on my door to hand me a coupon for their bible on weekends, so maybe for their cause, it could be considered counterproductive. I'd say example is the best form of evangelism. But, it doesn't have much to do with whether someone goes to hell or not, because someone who has never "heard of Jesus" could quite easily be in more "danger" of hell for, oh I don't know, simply not following their conscience or doing things THEY consider themselves to be wrong, than someone who has "heard of Jesus" but is not religious and is simply ignorant of any particulars but leads a decent life in accord with their conscience. In the end, the knowledge of Jesus as such is irrelevant because every individual merits heaven or hell based on personal knowledge and personal actions acorrdingly. But then the real question is, can justice and mercy coexist?
We must take all of the medicines too expensive now to sell
Set fire to the preacher who is promising us hell
And in the ear of every anarchist that sleeps but doesn’t dream
We must sing, we must sing, we must sing

Nowhere in the Bible does it say that people who haven't heard of Jesus aren't in danger of hell. What it says is that those who die without having heard the gospel will be judged by the actions they took in their lives, relative to what it was they believed constituted right-and-wrong. They will be judged by what they did in violation of their own consciences.
And in a "Christian" country like this one, permeated as it is with Churches, preaching on tv/radio, the ubiquity of Bibles, debate about the separation of Church and State, etc, it is the rare person, indeed, who will be able to claim that they never heard of Jesus, or the Gospel, or the need to be born again.

Read 1 corinthians 3:10-1510By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. 11For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. 14If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. 15If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.

Don't some of them believe that unless all humanity hears 'the good news' Jesus won't come back, or something like that?

Living in Christ prevents further sin that leads to discouragement. Christ has come to bring us joy and contentment in Him
