It depends what you believe i think. I for one am glad I believe in the possibility of a life after this..It most certainly will not be boring..and the fact that we get changed so that boring etc as we think of it now in our human thinking, will not be that way in Heaven. To find out that the Creator was so important to you to have believed and followed Him all the way and ended up receiving eternal life because of the love between you..is just WOWWWWWWW. To be able to ask Him all the questions that have haunted you..the "whys" and the "where did things go wrong" and the "where were you"...etc etc...is just too wonderful to walk away from. It would be like saying that nothing mattered, that He did not matter, that what Jesus did for us was worthless....Lefe eternal is not like life here.

In a way , you are correct. Mortality does define our existence, but, if there were no afterlife to look forward to, why should we define ourselves as good or bad? Why not live for today, get what we want, any way we can get it, no matter who it hurts? If death is all there is to look forward to, why do we need morals to live by?
Besides, I am one of those people who would like to see the future in another 200 years from now. After what we have seen in the last 50 years, are you not even a bit curious about what it would be like in the future?

Well I agree with you... I think people need to feel there is an afterlife because they can't let go of the things they love... nobody wants to contemplate the thought of never seeing family or loved ones again. Also many people have some idea that this life is not as good as what will come after... it is inherent in us to have to have something positive to look forward too, however society has made death out to be something negative and so we create an afterlife to give us the happy ending we expect. I dont think death is a bad thing, I accept it and I do think that denying our eventual ending is denying life at its most basic level... The greatest connection that all life shares is death.. we all die because of life and we all live because of death. Literally, life is death and death is life.... you either accept that or create a scenario that makes it more acceptable to you.

Well on one hand, I dont really want to live forever either. I do believe in an afterlife but the idea of nonexistance is kinda comforting IMO.
On the other hand however, I think the hardest things about death, isnt our fear of our OWN death, but being forever without those we have loved and lost. It's hard for anyone, to know and love someone and then all of a sudden, that person is just gone. It's hard to imagine that their spirit that made them so lovable to us just evaporated and no longer exists. I've often wondered, if even the most hardcore atheist ever tries to hang on to hope of seeing a loved one again when they die, or that their spirit carries on forever.

Another question worth asking is if there does happen to be another life after this one is there any reason to believe that anything we do in this life will affect the next? We have no way of knowing what's beyond death... don't you think if it was something important that we were working towards we'd be privy to the details?
I think one of the reasons some need to believe in an afterlife is so they can believe they will receive a reward for behaving in a certain way.

It has to do with purpose. Life is lived based on that. Afterlife changes the game a great deal.
If you cease to exist when you die, you don't think about consequences other than the ones intrinsic to your way of living.
If there is something after and its related to the way you lived your life here, you have to take care of your actions in a very different way.

You have a never dying soul. Only your body will cease to exit.
Eternity is a very long time. I would rather spend it in the very presence of God than spend it in Hell. Time is limitless and beyond our futile understanding, as God sees it. Meeting God, my/our creator face to face does not sound "boring" to me. What could be more fascinating as you discover all the answers to the questions that are a mystery to you now? What could be more wonderful that having a new & perfect body? Or spending time with your loved ones that have passed on before you? He has prepared a beautiful place for those who believe in His Son and accept the free gift of His salvation. Boring is not the word.

Who we really are can not be defined by our looks or physical appearance. We have a soul made up of our character and ability to love and live life. Our soul was made for God - to be united with God.
It is important to me to know that I will someday see my God and also those people who were important to me who died before me.
There is no time in heaven. We have no concept of forever.

The angels have been doing it for over 6000 years, 80 yeas just doesn't seem enough, especially when Adam lied 939 years on Earth.

It is so important because you are going to the after life whether you believe in it or not. And the more spiritual you are now the further you will go in the after life.
