Absolutely! It tastes better when sauteed with onion on the stove but it will be fine for your tacos. Break it up before you put it in and then stir fairly frequently. It's pretty hard to ruin it. Just don't overcook it. That's when it gets rubbery. Oh... and cover it so you don't make a mess in the microwave. And... don't cook it in plastic.
Edited to add.... Many people are giving you specific times but since microwaves vary so much I wouldn't follow that. The fat content of the meat will also make a difference. Just cook it the first time for a minute or two and then check/stir frequently until the pink color is gone. In my microwave it would be like a rock after 9 minutes!

Microwave cooking tends to be less harsh on nutrients than conventional cooking methods, because the cooking times are shorter and less water is used. To help preserve nutrients when microwaving food, use techniques that promote the even distribution of heat. There is no simple answer to questions about which cooking method is best for retaining nutrients. Research into the subject is ongoing. From a health perspective, there is no reason to use any one cooking method exclusively. Cooking in the microwave will make the ground beef rubbery. To microwave bulk ground beef, place beef in a bowl, then cook on high, 9 minutes per pound (445g). Stir several times during cooking to break up the meat. You may not get a small crumble like most taco meat has because you're unable to stir the meat constantly like on a stove top. But, hey! You don't have a stove so it'll have to do. :o)
Good luck!

You can cook just about anything in a microwave. Since it's your main source for cooking, I would get a used microwave cookbook from a bookstore. I kept mine (that came with) years ago, & it has a variety of recipes & pictures. I've made meatloaf etc. Cover the dish w a paper towel, stir, and rotate the plate 1/2 way thru cooking time. Adjust the cooking time for your model/wattage.

Microwave
Form ground beef into patties, place on a greased baking dish, and microwave on high 4 to 10 minutes, depending on quantity. Halfway through cooking, turn patties and drain drippings. To microwave bulk ground beef, place beef in a bowl, then cook on High, 9 minutes per pound (445g). Stir several times during cookin
it looks like you can put it in a bowl and cook it 9 min a pound
good luck

yeah, you can cook just about anything in the microwave. Somethings cook faster in the microwave vs. the stove. My family and I cooked some pork chops and realized when we sat down to eat them that were not fully cooked. We finished cooking them in the microwave.

Yup. Like everyone else said here, especially Southernserendipity (good call on the cooking time). It's grey and a little rubbery, but perfectly fine. You can put 1 or 2 paper towels on the bottom to help absorb the fat and extra moisture and one on top to help control the splatter. Just remove the towels on the bottom before mixing in the seasoning packet.

Yes you can and it won't taste bad unless you over cook it. Put it in a bowl rather than a flat plate because it releases a lot of fat. Mush it up first, put a paper towel over it and cook it in one minute increments, mushing it up with a fork in between one minute segments until it's thoroughly browned. I do this often, and it works. No one ever guesses it's microwaved.
