Just went through the same thing last week, sorry you got it!
Stick with broth and clear liquids, maybe a few saltine crackers or a piece of plain toast. And when you do start to feel better take it easy on the food. I made the mistake of trying to jump back on the bucking bronco too soon, and it was not fun!
Get plenty of rest and if you cant keep even liquids down, see your doctor. There are several medications they can give you to stop the vomiting if it is that bad. You don't want to get dehydrated. But know they will knock you out, so if that is something you have to do, be sure that your only agenda is bed!!
Get well soon!

You need to be seen soon. 1 week is too long to be losing those body fluids without adequately replacing them. Sometimes the body gets so out of whack that it just can't stop vomiting on it's own. At this point some IV fluids usually do the trick along with a little promethazine. We recommend taking very tiny amounts of fluids at a time, 5cc or 1 teaspoon every 10-15 minutes. At this point Pedialyte is a good fluid even though you are an adult. You are most likely dehydrated after a week of illness and your electrolytes are out of balance. Please go to your nearest Urgent Care or ER for evaluation. You run the risk of going into shock if you continue to be unable to replace the fluids and nutrients.

They suggest the B.R.A.T. diet with the flu: Bananas, Rice Applesauce and Toast. They do not recommend soda or gatorade because of the sugars. You can vary a bit like saltines instead of toast. You may want to go to the Dr to make sure you are not dehydrated; that makes you feel worse. You can try the pedialyte popciscles which will give you the electrolytes you have lost.

Start with clear liquids: chicken broth, jello, ginger ale, apple or cranberry juice (diluted), gatorade, popsicles
then add BRAT: Bananas, Rice (rice cereal or cooked rice), Applesauce, Toast
If BRAT is tolerated, add yogurt, scrambled eggs and small portions of your favorite comfort foods
Try to eat or drink a little bit of something every hour. You need your rest. Don't try to be a hero and do your normal activites - it will only take longer to get well if you do. Give yourself two full days of bed rest and see if you feel any better.

You should go to the doctor. 1 week is too long to experience the "flu", there probably is more to it than that. Be sure to drink enough and keep hydrated until you see the doctor.
