There are established amounts given in the beer, wine and spirits industry. If you are not a drinker, then do not spend the money to get hard liquor-everyone should be satisfied with wine and beer, plus champagne toast. This is what I am doing for my wedding reception.
For 30 guests at a 4-5 hour reception you should have:
about 16 bottles of wine, a mix of white and red is preferable
and about 2.5 cases of beer.
Oh, and when I consulted the winery where I am having my reception as to the amount of sparkling wine for the toast, they said a case of the wine (12 bottles) would suffice for about 130 people. Meaning that if you just give people a mouthful of the sparkling wine you should only need 3-4 bottles for a 30 person reception. You're lucky, by the way, my fiance and I both have large families, it makes for a huge reception...$$$

I recently had a receptions of about that size. Unless you have a lot of drunks there believe it or not.....not that much! We didn't even get through a whole big bottle of either liquor! Went through beer quicker. I ended up returning a lot of liquor to ABC and got almost $200 back. I can't remember exactly what I got but it was like 3 bottles of rum, 3 of vodka, & a couple whiskey. Are you using a bartender? I would if I was you. Liquor control. Less drunks! We got a friend of a friend to do it and put out a tip jar for him. Let him keep what he got. He made over $100 in 4hrs.

At my reception we had an alcoholic punch (and a non-alcoholic version) and since many of my new husband's military buddies were there, we also had a keg of beer.
Don't go crazy with a lot of booze. It's expensive and some people will drink it 'til it's gone, just because it's free. It's also okay to have a cash bar if the place you are having the reception offers that service.

properly of route you could get sturdy champagne and nice nutrition for anybody. A DJ might want to be a sturdy idea inspite of if all he does is go with calm track to play and perchance one or 2 dance songs. maximum human beings will dance to sluggish songs besides the undeniable fact that, so placed some in there. per chance you would possibly want to practice slightly dance educate with you and your new spouse and some different contributors of your relatives. Like study a dance at the same time thats loopy and exciting and can make anybody chuckle. Do you've a pal or pal that sings? Have them sing one track at your reception. yet another ingredient you would possibly want to do is have fantastic favors for anybody wrapped up in a present field. Have particular ones for the youngsters. Have candles and flora everywhere so it looks extra upscale.

Not knowing the drinking preferences in your area, I would suggest one bottle each of: Whiskey, Dark Rum, Vodka and Gin. As for wine, I would suggest 10 bottles of white wine and 5 bottles of red. Also, several cases (24s) of beer. Keep in mind, as you are providing the liquor, you also have the responsibility to ensure they don't leave the reception intoxicated.

Please, don't have a full service open or cash bar. Please! The last reception we went to that had one of those had the mother of the bride getting a strip tease and lap dance from one of the groomsmen.
Have a keg and 3-4 bottles of wine would be PLENTY of booze for 30 people.

I think wine & beer is fine.
You can have champagne but from my experience unless it's very good champagne most people don't like it.
Toast with white wine or sparkling cider.
