Ok, well I'm trying to lose 20 pounds by March.
Im doing the 2 pounds a week deal.
So I limit myself to 1200 calories a day, I walk to and from school, and that takes an hour. and after that i do jogging and walking for another hour. do those both equal 500 calories burned?

and do you think i can lose 20 pounds by march ?

Yes, though I'd be watching your calorie content if I were you. Eating too little can have the adverse effect of actually *slowing down* your metabolism--your body may freak out and therefore hang onto every piece of fat it can. Check how many calories you need by calculating your BMR--never ever eat below this number, calculable here: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ The amount of calories you're burning depends on your height and weight. You can find out how much you're burning here: http://www.healthstatus.com/cbc.html
Add your BMR to the amount of calories you're burning in a normal day, before your diet, and you have the number of calories it takes for you to stay at your current weight. Now, to lose 1 lb a week, you'll have to cut 500 calories from that total through exercise or reducing your food intake. 3,500 calories is equal to one pound, so that way you can find out how much you need to eat and exercise to lose weight. Remember taking extreme measures will not do you any good! You want to keep the weight off, too, not just lose 20lbs and gain it back really fast.

how many calories you're burning depends on your current weight.

you can estimate calories burned by using this site. if you're exercising that much and keep the calories down (but be sure to still be eating enough to stay full and get the nutrients you need!), you should be able to lose about 20 lbs by march.
