There are food additives your veterinarian can reccomend such as Forbid that will make your puppies feces taste bad enough to curb the habit. Rubbing your puppies nose in it will teach them absolutely nothing. Well, that's not true. It will teach them that you are mean. Positive reinforcement is much more effective than negative reinforcement. Try teaching him some simple commands like "leave it" or "sit" and when you see him going to eat the feces, use one of those, then reward him.

Come on people she is asking for help! yes it may be a nasty habit but it can be prevented. You can find a product at pet stores and some vet offices called 4-BID or ForBid and Dis-Taste. You would put it in the girl dog's poop since hers is preferred for eating and it will cause her poop to be unappealing to him.
This nasty habit is called coprophagy and it occurs because of a lack of enzymes, bad habits, boredom or parasites. You can help prevent the habit by quickly cleaning up poops so the dog will not have access to it. Get the product and begin correcting the problem. You may message me also if you would have other dog questions and I will do my best to help you.
Hope this helps you ;)

Of course you dog likes poop, especially puppy poop, it still smells like food and is not well digested.

You are baking a cake, you smell cake. Your dog smells eggs, milk, sugar, butter...

Much poop still smells like food to them. Usually only puppies eat poop, but its normal and harmless unless the pooper has a parasite. This is the main way to spread worms.

undomesticated dogs eat their poop to make sure they don't leave their scent behind for other animals to track. my dog used to do the same thing all the time. it's disgusting for humans to think of but it's their instincts. to solve my dog's problem, we bought him these tiny pills that made his poop smell sooo bad that he wouldn't want to eat it. we gave them to him for a year, and he ocasionally eats poop, but not as much as he did when he was a pup. i know it's disgusting but good luck!

He/she probably won't do it very long. Dogs are pretty stupid - they'll eat anything they can get their jaws on. Just wait until they eat a full bowl of food and then go outside, chow on some grass, then come inside and puke it all up. Grass makes them puke.

Most animals will eat the feces of themselves or another if the can detect that it still contains nutrients. It's gross, but not a big deal.

That really makes no difference.

Female pups are more apt to do this than pups in general.

well he learned this behavior, mothers eat their puppies poop so he saw mom do it and just copied her. Not to worry he won't do it for long.

Invest in doggy breath treats and if they are into licking your face I would also suggest brushing his teeth and tongue. Good luck.
