I downloaded the new version of Itunes, and Quicktime comes with it. Quicktime is something that I don't need or want. My question is, if I delete Quicktime, will it adversely affect Itunes? Or are they completely independent? thanks.

Quicktime is not directly integrated into iTunes. However, iTunes does rely heavily on quicktime. iTunes uses it to play movies, tv shows, and podcasts that you download to your library. Also, if you want to preview a music video, tv show, etc. in the iTunes store, you need quicktime.

So, while it will not immediately cripple iTunes, you will notice performance issues if you remove it. Hope this helps!

Quicktime is needed for the Itunes store to run... Itunes to play music show run fine without quicktime and videos.

However if you delete quicktime the online links services may not work and you will need to access Itunes by manually typing in the URL in a web browser.

Personally unless you wish to buy music using Itunes store, say goodbye to Quicktime.

It will only affect the video function of itunes. If you don't use videos on your ipod or watch them in itunes then it will have no affect, but some web sites use quick time for their videos so if you delete it and then go to a site to watch a video it will then prompt you to install it to watch the video i.e. you may wind up with the program installed anyway. Hope this helps.
