I have an iPod and I listen to it, like 24/7. I sleep with it on and I use it all day. I like REAL rock music (not that alternative crap...) like Korn, and ICP...stuff like that. well, sometimes (like now) I'll have the iPod earbud in one ear and have the computer headphones on over it.... so is this constant use harmful to my hearing??

One thing you should know about noise damage is that it is immediate and irreversible.

You may already have impaired your hearing. You could have a hearing test at an audiologist.

Small signals to watch for...do you need the TV louder than others...do you find yourself asking people to repeat themselves?

Reduce the sound level. That headphone over the ear buds doesn't sound good.

If the volume is too loud, this can be extremely harmful to your hearing. Listening to multiple noises (on purpose) is strenuous on the brain. Since you listen to hard rock, I'm guessing you have the volume pretty loud. Try to lessen the volume level and cut out a portion of your listening like while on the computer. If you continue the way your listening to music, you will lose much of your hearing in your middle ages. Listen to some relaxing music like Jack Johnson too!

If it is on loud, yes it can damage your ears. Give yourself a break and come back to reality for while. Put the I-pod away and enjoy the world around you.
