Depends on what kind of car it is. sometimes it's cheaper to just find another vehicle as mechanic costs can rack way up.

An engine for that vehicle will run about 1500 to 2000. Labor for a good mechanic shop will be around 75 to 90 dollars an hour. If its a 2 wheel drive your lookin at about 13 to 15 hours(you do the math). Your blazer is probably only worth about $3,500 in perferct shape. I would probably toss it.

Well if you really like the blazer or if you have put a lot of time in working on it then or if you want to upgrade it if the rest of it is in great shape and make it sweet then try putting a new motor in it as far as worrying about getting riped off go to some one that has been at where they are and then check with your local better business burro BBB and see if they have any complaints

My Grandfather was a mechanic. He always use to tell me that when the cost of repairs exceed the amount of a monthly car payment, GET RID OF IT!!! Today the engine, tomorrow the transmission?!?

depends on how much money you have. If money is no object, get a new car. If you are on the cheap, an engine is much cheaper than a new car.
