I have asked a question. I have not stated my views on organized religion. Let's keep the name calling to a minimum please.

No, intollerant people do. It isnt only religious people who show intolerance. Look at how many athiests and agnostics here cannot tolerate the religious? Do you think someone who doesnt condone homosexuality has to be religious? Or one that believes one race is better than the other? None of those require religion and there are pleanty of hateful non-religious too.

I believe that in some sects it can indeed. However, that is NOt what the base religions teach - I have yet to find a religion that teaches as a general rule, intolerance of all others. I have, however, met up with sects of these religions where the minister and elders did indeed encourage rudenes and intolerance of others, lining the path to it with false claims and outrageous statements.

No, it's the leadership of the organized religions that breed intolerance, the religions themselves have nothing to do with intolerance.

If organized religion is done properly...then it should actually breed unity and understanding.

Too often we end up judging, which does lead to intolerance, but that's not the way it was originally designed.

Any organization can breed intolerence, even the place where you work in your little clique. This question breeds intolerance. Anytime you use the word THEM.

I hope this helps.

Intolerance to what? Sin? There should be intolerance to sin. Jesus organized his religion, why is organization bad? I suggest it is just an abhorrence to authority figures that bug you. You perhaps do not like ANYBODY to tell you what to do. Maybe even God? So you pretend he does not exist?

No. Intolerant people breed it. Sometimes religion is used as a convenient method.

People are jerks no matter what, but, yes, I've found religious people to be very intolerant. In fact, I bet I get a few of those "thumbs down" things for speaking against their imaginary god.;o
