I have been with this guy for 3 years, he's 47 I'm 31. He just can't seem to make up his mind and is such a control freak. He can't be wrong about anything(and I am never right). It's like he has this phobia of me have a thought before him or a better idea. No matter what we are talking about or what I say he always says, "well its more that that" or "not!, you need to think about what your saying". I can' t be that stupid, can I? Why is he like this? and What can I do to help him get over it? it drives me crazy. Anymore, I only say what I have too. I spend more time avoiding him these days. He never follows thru with anything and always has an excuse, and always wants to put EVERYTHING off or, "just leave it alone it will work itself out", New flash!! It doesn't fix itself. The only thing he doesn't criticize is my cooking, my book-keeping, my driving and sex. Other than that I cant do anything right. My head hurts just thinking about it.....

I am sorry that he is such a jerk. Not all men that have reached 40 are that way. I have never made any decision for a woman and never would think of it. I think that the age thing is no big deal. It is just that he needs to learn to trust you and your brain. I guess I am saying - life is too short to be miserable if it is not right move on.

You made the answer obvious within your question.....where can I find a cook, bookkeeper, chaufer, sex goddess and alll around, "chief cook & bottle washer"....would it help if I said 'I love ya' from time to time... You've got the situation sized up pretty well already; it's just a matter of how you want to deal with it. The age gap seems like it's starting to wear on you. Balls in your court...you could change it if you wanted to. Luck

You said it at the beginning of your paragraph, he's a control freak. And, being the age he is, I bet he's set in his ways. Also, he may be viewing you as "not as experienced" as him because of your age gap, which only adds to his criticism of you.
My question to you is, are you going to just complain, or are you going to do something about it?

He's a control freak. Maybe worse than that. Dump him. Get your own brain back in your possession.

You can't change him. He is set in his ways and will do this to any woman...especially a younger one. It's like he is competing with you. Unfortunately, you will have to get your fill, then leave.
