All evolution disproves is the literal reading of Genesis. Nothing more.

If evolution were true that would disprove Genesis. If that was true then the Bible's authority would be destroyed. If God had set evolution in motion, the six days of creation would be false. Christians believe that the Bible is "God Breathed" and totally infallible, and true to the letter.

I think people only get wound up because it means the OT is false. Most people who believe in evolution would agree that it does would not disprove the existence of god.

There is no reason god and evolution can not coexist.
All you have to do is accept that genesis is an allegory.
Btw, evolution is a fact. The only aspect of evolution in question pertains to how and why certain organism evolved they way they did, not that they did.

Yes, but if evolution is how it was done, does that leave room for a *loving* God?
Did the dinosaurs fall, or were they pushed?
"Sorry, I need some new niches for evolutionary possibilities. Forgive the mess, but here comes a giant asteroid."
All those mutations that didn't work... Good for evolution (Let's try some random experiments!), a bit tough on the individuals.
This is only the suffering argument writ large, but that one hasn't gone away.

It depends on what you mean by evolution. Not everyone who believes in evolution believes the same things about it. Species can evolve to adapt to changes in environment, etc., but new species do not evolve out of lesser species. It's interesting to me that so many ask "Who created God," but never question how mere matter came into existence "ex nihilo." They assume that matter always was, but for some reason can't imagine that an intelligent Creator always was. It takes at least as much faith to believe that we evolved from elements as it does to believe that we were created. At least as much.

Frankly, it doesn't...directly.
It does disprove the creation story held in the bible., thereby discrediting it. Since, we are led to believe that those who wrote the bible were divinely inspired, it discredits the god who supposedly told man to write the creation myth.
It's possible for evolution to be "put into motion" by god; but if that's the case, why didn't god inspire man to write dinosaurs and cavemen into the bible?
