you can have your vet take a guess as to what the dog is mixed with. but there is nothing wrong with saying you own the best mutt around. there's nothing shameful in mutt. if you have a pic, we can take a guess. but no as of right now i am not aware of a dna test or anything like that to determine breed mix. does it matter?

In theory, it is possible to use a DNA test. But it's so complicated and in fact difficult to actually get that it's probably not worth your while to get.
Meanwhile, there is nothing wrong with mutts. That's what some of the best dogs I've ever met are.

There were several guesses about what my whippet was mixed with (boxer, husky, pitbull, hound), and after searching on google for pics of the different breeds, we found that she looked almost identical to a whippet pitbull x. I don't know how old your dog is, but as he gets older it may or may not be easier to determine his breed. However, sometimes they look nothing like their mutt parents and happen to resemble completely different breeds.
There really isn't any test, but if there was I would check it out just to settle my curiousity!

I don't think so. Sorry, your best bet is the best guess, but I know plenty of mutts that are indistinguishable. I mean, one looks like a collie *like lassie* with a different collor coat but her mother is a chihuahua shi tzu mix *though she's way too big for that to be all that's in her* and the father was what looked kinda like a lab mix. With mutts it really is a game of chance.
