I recommend finding a playgroup. Check papers, online and ask around. I found a playgroup by signing up for a mother and baby swim class. One of the mother's in the class belonged to the group. Signing up for activities with your children will help you meet other moms. It is hard to find other moms to be friends with. Everyone is so busy. Most of the moms I know work so the time they do have they want to spend with their family. I know your situation well. Best of luck.

Take your kids to some places they can enjoy and where you may meet other parents such as the park or get your 8 yr old involved in a sport you'd meet the other parents there, my sister in law met a lot of her friends through the day care and it means they can all bring their kids to one another's house and chat while the kids have fun with each other look for things you can do with your kids like public events that can give you a chance to meet other parents.
Maybe look online for your area some parents do set up events for parents to meet parents while their kids have a good time maybe even set up one your self like a kids picnic in the park and put your phone number on so anyone interested can come join and ring you for a time and date
Hope you find something

Check out gocitykids.com and look around for your city. There are loads of festivals, parks and indoor and outdoor activities listed there. I know there is so much to do in the Sunshine State since the weather is usually nice. You will meet nice Mommies at the park, playground, gymboree classes or even at the grocery store. I found gymboree to be THE greatest place to meet nice mommies with great kids - find a location near you at www.gymboree.com!!
Good luck and keep your chin up. You'll find a good friend for you and your son, you'll see!! Take care.

I just asked the same question about 4 minutes ago. I would be your friend...except I live in Illinois. After my baby is born I plan on joining a work out class...maybe I'll meet friends that way. Also, maybe taking a college course might help to meet the kind of friends with the same interests as you.

I live too far away---sorry, but have you thought of joining a playgroup for your 11 mos old or take an exercise or swimming class at your local YWCA (they have daycare)? I always find good people at the Y---sounds corny, I know.
