Ok so I live On Cedar Avenue in the Bronx, and I need to get to Chambers Street in Manhattan on the subway. I know I need to cross the University Heights Bridge to the 207 Street Station to take the 1 train. I just need to know if I can take the 1 train all the way down to Chambers Street instead of transferring to the 2 train at 96th street....Answers please?

The 1 will take you to chambers but it's local, 2 and 3 are express.

Yep, you can take the "1" all the way down to Chambers without getting out. It's really not much of a difference taking the local and express...for some reason the local trains leave the station quicker than the express and open/close the doors quicker since those trains aren't as crowded.

Actually, instead of walking over the bridge, take the BX12 bus instead. Still gets you to the 207th Street station and with a Metrocard, you have that free transfer.

Walking across that bridge with the wind is no joke. Couldn't you make it to the Bedford Station of the 4 train which is still in the West Bronx? The 1 train is a local and will take a long time to get there. The 4 would take you there in a hurry, then get off at Brooklyn Bridge. Or I am sure that you can bus it to Jerome the 4 train and transfer to the train there.
