I have had some of the same bloodlines since the 50s, so tracing them back 100 years is pretty simple.

I can trace my own dogs pedigree and lineage as far back as the 1950's from specific kennels. Depending on the breed and whether or not there are varities, the pedigree may say if it's a standard or mini, what kind of coat the dog has and what color the dog is. It also has the name of the dogs, the titles it's earned and its relationship to other dogs in the pedigree. No, there are no measurements or weight. As for breeding mixbreeds, they have no pedigree, so there is nothing to look back to. If you breed a mixbreed to a purebred dog, the pups will still be mixbreeds. If you breed to different breeds of purebreds together, the pups are mixbreeds.

I can trace my dog's pedigree back 207 years:

That said, his pedigree wasn't the reason I chose him. I just looked it up out of curiosity.
I was merely after a pet that would fit into my lifestyle - something he does very well. He had been assessed for health and temperament by the rescue and I used that as my main source of information when choosing him.
Like most people - I don't know nearly enough about breeding to know what to look for in a pedigree.

I have my dogs 7 generation pedigree. For fun I have looked up some of the dogs further back and I was able to trace them to the 60's.
I sort of lost interest after that.

My breeder gave me a pedigree with 14 generations back. I was impressed with that...but back to the 1800's sounds like a miracle or a breeder with impeccable records. Some humans can't trace their family that far back. Congrats.

I have both of my Danes traced back over 12 generations on paper and I can go back farther it's just a matter of taking the time to sit down to do it. I also have pictures of some of the "far back" dogs.

That's pretty impressive and must have taken a lot of research. I only have mine traced back 4 generations through the AKC.
I got my two dogs from different breeders, and it turned out that they're cousins - their fathers are brothers and they share the same grandfather.

My family has been breeding the same same strains of American Pitbull Terriers since the early 1800's, I was lucky to have this handed down to me.
But I know people who have researched there lineage on there own, and it does take some time, and alot of research.
Kudos!
Hey Kaos- Yeah, he's my Brother
