I seem to feel a mild kind of body tension at all times. My foot is always tapping or I'm constantly fidgeting without thinking about it. I know it's not unusual, but what is the cause of it, and how can I stop it without resorting to medication?

this could be related to an anxiety disorder or restless leg syndrome....

you could seek medical attention and try non-pharmalogical solutions such as therapy. alternative therapies, such as yoga, may be beneficial as well.
