there isn't one. there's no kind of scientific consensus on the "ideal" workout time. it's best to pick a time that you can consistently stick to. the only factor i'd consider is when you eat. you wanna workout about 1-2 hours after eating, so that you 1) have energy and the fuel to workout, and 2) so your blood isn't busy trying to digest food rather than supplying your muscles. you also want to eat after workout out to replenish your depleted energy supply. this is the best time in the day to eat fast digesting carbs, mixed in with protein.

The best time for you to exercise is the time of day that you have the most energy. If you wake up in the morning and are wide awake, then that would probably be good for you! Some people work all day and are too exhausted at the end of the day to exercise so they blow it off. If that happens to you, I would recommend working out in the morning or on a lunch break if you get one. If you are into Yoga, I would do that at night because it is very relaxing and can help you fall asleep. I wouldn't do high intensity exercise late at night because that will hinder your ability to fall asleep. I hope this helps!

First, if your confusion of when to workout is preventing you from working out because you may feel that it isn't affecting your body positively, then you shouldn't worry about it; working out anytime of the day is better than not working out at all.

If you're looking to burn fat, doing aerobic exercises in the morning before you eat anything supposedly burns the fat already stored in your body, and not what you would have consumed, as someone mentioned above.

Now, to Bunny who says
"But for muscle mass it is within 30 minutes of eating protein and then having protein after the workout."

I disagree... only select carbs high on the Glycemic Index after a weight-training session- Some carbs (high on the index) have a chemical advantage necessary to reset/replenish your system, through glycemic storage, preparing it for it's next 'battle' in the gym

I would say in the morning...get those endorphins going and whatnot. Also, I have heard that it is better to do short workouts throughout the day rather than just one long one. For example, take a 15min walk at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Keeps the energy up, the fat burning, and the muscle building. Good luck!

I have read many different theories on when to exercise, but all have said, the most important thing is to exercise, whenever you choose to do it. So find a time of the day that is most convenient for you and then go for it.

For weight loss it's in the morning when exercise will burn fat not what is in your stomach.

But for muscle mass it is within 30 minutes of eating protein and then having protein after the workout.

In the morning as soon as you wake up. You are sending the message to your brain to accelerate the metabolism faster. I did the experiment myself, for a month i ran in the afternoon, i lost weight but then when i did it in the morning the weight came down doble and faster.
