My room is unbelievably small! I was to redecorate to try to make more floor space, but I have a queen bed that takes up the whole room! I want to switch to a twin loft but my mom won't allow me to get a new bed. How can I fix up my room so I have MAXIMUM floor space?

It's not very fair because my brother gets a huge room and my parents get a huge room and I get a tiny room and I've asked to trade millions of times but they won't let me.

If you are unable to get a new bed, you'll just have to work with the queen-sized one! One way to give the illusion of more space is to keep the room as sparsely furnished as possible. That means getting rid of clutter and excess furniture. Take advantage of under-bed storage bins to keep clutter to a minimum. Shelves mounted on the wall could hold books and knick-knacks. Keep the look clean and sleek - as little "frou-frou" as possible. A small night stand with drawers and/or shelves and a wall-mounted lamp (or two) would free up some space. Keep bedding lightweight and light in color. Window coverings should be light in color and simply constructed.

Add some visual interest with a few bright throw pillows and a cute stuffed animal or two for the bed.

One thing you can do is lift your bed up off the floor with some concrete blocks or something, and that will at least give you more storage space:) And putting your bed against a wall will give you more room too. Keep out all other pieces of furniture & things that aren't absolutely necessary. You could also try and find a really great buy on the bed you want..like second hand shops, the classified ads, or garage sales, or maybe even trade a friend...and maybe Mom will change her mind:)
Good Luck!!

try to get them to buy you a set of inexpensive(,i have seen them on the jc penny web site) bed risers to lift up the bed and use plastic storage containers you can scoot under the bed, also think vertical storage.Put up shelves, floating are nice.Use a narrow, high chest of drawers(find a cheap used one at the goodwill, flea market or consignment shop and sand and paint it).Get your dad to mount your t.v. to the wall with special brackets.Paint the room a light color,a warm yellow would be pretty.Dont use heavy curtainas,Use valances if possible.Use a nice ceiling light instead of alot of lamps.Use lightweight light colored bedding. If you get cold use an electric blanket at night and store in the closet during the day.Let the light shine in.
