Well, historical fact - more people have died because of organized religion than from any other cause.

In general, organized religion has been misused by authorities or those seeking power than any other organizing force. In that regard, organized religion is intrinsically a bad thing. Its used to mislead people and milk them for money, as well as to pacify.

Christianity in the middle ages and onwards is an excellent example, as is fundamentalist Islam.

Personal spirituality is generally a good thing - but the preaching of organized religion, particularly monotheisms, create intolerance and frankly insanity in the unthinking fanatics who follow them.

Scare the Hell out of me. It is amazing how an individual who would usually not be dangerous, when coupled with false hope dogma and a society of like-minded people, can turn into a totally different person. The Dharmic religions I have no problem with.

Christianity is directly responsible for 20-30 million deaths. It's a very scary topic.

it is a great way for people with ceartain beliefs to come together and practice what they believe as a comunity. there are drawbacks to everything. examples: the situation with the catolic church...some priests have used their status to victimize people, this is definatly not limited to the catholic church. some organized religions such as but not limited to what is prevelent today in the muslim religion inspire people to do harm to people who do not believe as they do. if people could only respect each other and each others beliefs the world would be a much better place.

Religion is a religion, just take it as a belief and dont go too extreme. That's what i thought. I hate those people who take it too much of their religion, try to apply to everyone else, being the messanger of God and feel as if they're the saviour. Hey, for those kind of people out there, you're irritating and annoying. People has their own beliefs, religion is religion, it's not a marketing job that you should do by getting more members joiinig your religion!! I'm so ******* annoyed by these people. dont you??!!!

What do you mean by "organized relgion" ? I love my church, I love my pastor, I love the music, I love the Bible! The Bible says that fellowship with other Christians is wonderful and needed for true believers.

True, sometimes ANY belief system gets out of hand, but whoever says religion should be abolished is out of their minds.

THINK ABOUT IT.

Sure.

Some people like to organize theirs alphabetically, but as for me, I prefer to organize them by size of congregations. Every once in awhile, I'll organize them by the color of the preacher's outfits, but that system is forever changing the order.

I believe that there will be two lines one going to heaven and one going to hell. You will see some of everyone in each line , Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hebrews, Rasta, some of everyone will be there in both places. Rabbis, Pastors, priest, emans, good people in hell bad people in heaven, the choice is not up to us who will enter and not, and what we think is bad may have done some good to someone at a different point and time. We are not to say.

most organised religion is more concerned with human tradition than God laws
Jesus sid it clearly when he said

Matt 7: 6 He replied, "Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: "`These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
7 They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.'
8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men."
9 And he said to them: "You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!

My thought is that I'll keep my money because my relationship with a higher power is personal, and does not require me to make weekly donations.
