You cannot claim the child tax credit if the child is 17 or older at the end of the tax year, however you may be able to claim them as a dependent and/or claim the earned income credit.

No, once the child turns 17, you can no longer claim a child tax credit for them.

If they're a college student under 24, you can very possibly still claim them as a dependent and get an exemption for them, though.

Please talk to a tax professional and verify...
the previous answers sound great but what if someone comes along and says yes you can claim him?
Then you claim him and you get the big fat letter from the IRS
and you repsond by saying someone on yahoo answers said i could....
