where you would have an asterisk (*) and then right at the bottom the little explanation. (this has seemed to slip my mind)

i.e.

Various sources* use the example of peanut butter and jelly as a similie for people who go good together.

a foot note or an end note. Foot notes are at the bottom of the page. End notes are at the end of a chapter.

It is called a footnote (if on the bottom of the same page as the asterisk * in the body text) and an end note if its located at the end of the chapter or section.

It gives additional information that may not be as important as the main text but is a good reference of something that may be useful to know about the context of the text.

N... Yeah. I know what yo mean. But i dont know what its called. BUT, i know the definition...sort of. Its like an add-on. Its not included in the section because it might not have been important enough to be included in the section.

OR it might just be to confuse us, BUT som eare smart enough to understand it, but hard to explain it to the ones that dont.
