Shouldn’t our primary chemistry be silicon based or perhaps some mineral?

Oddly enough we humans contain only trace amounts of the stuff that dirt is made from. How did this happen?

Well, I think the idea is God transformed the dirt into organic matter. But if he's omnipotent, why'd he need the dirt?
As for the dirt thing being a metaphor or figure of speech, couldn't that excuse be applied to ANY supernatural or impossible acts in the bible? Does it just automatically retroactively only apply to the inconvenient ones or something?

Actually, the most believable reason would be behind the fact that the bible has been horribly translated. A new version, translated according to a much more accurate study of the hebrew language and the oldest texts, is available and the wordign is actually quite different, especially in genesis.

Dust is believable as every time we take a bath, we shed those dirts we thought we have gathered outside but in reality they are the dust we are made of and that thing we thought are dead cells are really the hardened dust that we have been shedding off....just to make you smile or grin. Adam's being fashioned from the dust can be as literal as metaphorical. In Spiritual tone, the dust is the gross characteristics of a man with the raw ignorance of himself until he was enlightened to see the truth. The truth about knowing and learning that there is only One God. Note why only his descendants are the ones carrying the simply One God (no additives like some Christians) belief....the Jews and the Muslims. There were people before Adam and those were the ones called the "Gentiles or the "Daughters of man". the Male and Female who on the sixth day came simultaneously after the Animals. Notice the account of Adam where he was made first, next the animals and then Eve afterwards. That is not error in reporting, that was how it was explained to the Jews about their mission as chosen people to make them feel they were here on earth to tell the world of One God only as opposed to the beliefs of their predecessors about many Gods and other deities. Whatever or however are this people made through scientific facts, does not affect the creation theory of Israel for in them is the Glory of God made manifest through the spiritual enlightenment of Adam. If science has proof of people coming from a monkey then It is the spirit that really evolve taking on the body as their vehicle for life. From mere innocence, the spirit grow into intelligence that dictated his body to form itself to adopt to the environment it inhabits. Made from dirt? take a bath.

Biblical scholars are deliberately vague, should God explain his methods of speaking man into existence. I suppose an explanation would be he converted the dirt into oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium and phosphorus

I thought the bible said we were made from dust.
That being the case, doesn't this support evolution in that we could've been formed originally from carbon star dust microbes falling to the earth? ;) [ducking]
