Does "where's my refund" actually tell you a date that your 2006 refund has been mailed or will be direct deposited on a certain date?

Yes. I e-filed my taxes on January 17th, using Tax Cut. I chose direct deposit, because it is the fastest way to receive my refund. This morning, I went to www.irs.gov, to check up on my refund status, even though they recommend waiting a week to do this. When I entered my information, it said that the irs were processing my information, and that assuming that there were no errors, I would receive my refund by January 30th.

Last year when I did my refund, www.irs.gov did a very good job of keeping me updated when they had processed everything and giving me a window to expect the deposit. Than I kept an eye on the account that the money was going to so that I knew when it was deposited. Since I still need more paperwork before I can file mine this year I would not know if they are better or worst than last year. It took them about 3-4 weeks to deposit mine from the date that I filed in early February.

Yes it does. I call them every year to find out when I'm getting my refund. I need to know when I can spend that money! First they might tell you that they received it and it is being processed. Wait a few days or a week and call back and then they'll tell you when the check is going out of when your money is being direct deposited. When you use direct deposit the money is in there first thing in the morning on that day, sometimes even the night before! I love it!!!!!
