Yes. Green tea has caffeine, which is a diuretic, so it will alter your hydration status if you drink too much every day.
It also contains lots of catechins, substances that attract free radicals as anti-oxidation molecules. Some people believe this enhances its activity in the immune system and in cardiovascular disease, BUT the FDA has declared there is no credible evidence to back this claim.
FDA quotes from wikipedia:
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has rejected claims of health benefits for green tea. [4]
* "There is no credible scientific evidence that drinking green tea reduces the risk of heart disease."
* "FDA concludes there is no credible evidence to support qualified health claims for green tea or green tea extract and a reduction of a number of risk factors associated with CVD" (cardiovascular disease)."
* The FDA has said that green tea likely does not reduce breast, prostate, or any other type of cancer risk.
So drinking large amounts is NOT helpful, and we do not know how much you can drink before it is harmful.
Everything in moderation is a very good rule to live by!:)

There is just as much, if not more, caffeine in green tea than there is in coffee. The recommended daily "allowance" (according to FDA) of coffee is 8 cups (and the real cups, not like the Starbucks cups). If you are talking mug cups, then yes - 5-8 cups of green tea is pretty high in caffeine content, and isn't great for you. If you mean real cups (ie. 8 oz), then you should be okay.

Green tea has been bragged about for some time now, but I've heard that there is alot of flouride in most teas. I for one have seen what flourinated drugs can do to a persons body. I lost my sense of smell and have a higher TSH Thyroid count now due to taking an antibiotic that did nock out my Pnemonia but left me with bad side effects. Flouride is not very good for us and it's been researched by many doctors and some countries have outlawed it's use in water supplies. Tea in moderation is OK but to much of anything can harm us.

Chinese and Japanese people drink it all day long and you don't hear of them dropping dead from it. As long as you aren't using lots of sugar, I wouldn't worry about it.
