What? Cain and Abel were not the only children. There were a lot.
Ge 5:4 After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters.

Genesis 4:17 says, "Cain lay with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch." Who was his wife? It is implied in the biblical text that Cain married one of his sisters. Several facts lead us to this conclusion.
First, it is clear that Adam and Eve had a number of children. Genesis 5:4 says, "After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters." Since Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, and since God had commanded them (and their descendants) to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28), it seems reasonable to conclude that Cain married one of his many sisters. It is also possible that he married a niece or even a grandniece.
One must keep in mind that in the early years of the human race there were no genetic defects that had yet developed as a result of the fall of man. By the time of Abraham, God had not yet declared this kind of marriage to be contrary to His will (see Genesis 20:12). Laws governing incest apparently did not become enacted until the time of Moses (Lev 18:7-17; 20:11,12,14,17,20,21). Hence, there was no prohibition regarding marrying a sister (or niece or grandniece) in the days of Cain.

They had a lot of kids, the only ones they named in the bible were Cain, Abel and Seth. They didn't bother with a lot of the others, maybe because they didn't do anything "special", like being the first murderer and victim. Seth didn't do anything bad, but he was mentioned because it was out of his parental line that Enoch, then Noah showed up. Adam and Eve lived in the garden possibly hundreds of years, not growing old, and they didn't have condoms, so I'm guessing there were a lot of babies. It wasn't until their fall that they were kicked out and started aging.

What's up with God saying "From now on there shall be pain in child birth." Did they have Cain and Abel in the garden of Eden, or were there other children?

Abel and Cain were the children....
After Cain killed his brother Abel.God punished him.and said "now you are under a curse and driven from the ground...."Cain had a wife and they had children. The first son's name was Enoch and to Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael was the father of Methushael, and Methushael was the father of Lamech and he married 2 women,Adah and Zillah.Adah gave birth to Jabal,he was the father of those who lives in tents and raised livestock. His brother's name was Jubal,he was the father of all who play the harp and flute.Zillah also had a son,Tubal-Cain,who forged all kinds of tools out of bronze and iron. His sister was Naamah.
Adam and Eve had another son and named him Seth, saying "God has granted me another child in place of Abel". Seth had a son name Enosh.and became the father of Kenan.
Lamech was the father of Noah and he had three sons,Shem,Ham and Japeth.and from them came the people who were scattered over the earth.

Ok, here's the story: Adam & Eve represent the dawn of sentience: the time at which we became human beings.
Cain and Abel represent the two paths that civilization took: hunting/gathering, and farming/agriculture.
It really IS that simple.

You should review Genesis. In Chapter 1 God creates unspecified numbers of male and female humans. In Chapter 2 God creates Adam from dirt and Eve from Adam's rib.
If Genesis is true Adam & Eve were not the only people created by God and they were not the first.

there was also Seth, son of Adam and Eve. Genesis chapter 6 says "sons of God saw the daughters of men..and took them wives." There are differing opinions about who these sons of God were. Some think they were fallen angels which took the likeness of men and had wives. I do not know. I just believe.
