If someone dies suddenly in their sleep (without prior health problems), it may be a brain aneurysm. These can happen very suddenly, and many times, when people are sleeping.

Well, there has to be something wrong with them to die that fast. I knew someone who had a heart attack while sleeping and just didn't wake up.
Sometimes when people get sick for a long time, their hearts just give out. It can fight for only so long. It needs oxygen and the support of healthy, working organs to keep the person alive. When organs stop working, the body just starts shutting down and death follows very soon.
If you know someone that this has happened to, you have my sympathies.

Surprisingly enough MOST people die in their sleep. People with long-term illnesses or old age or chronic pain often fall into a coma (their body starts to shut down) before dying and so, pass away while sleeping.

I knew someone who used to nap every day at work for 15 minutes after lunch. One day the nap lasted way longer then normal, when someone realized that he was not snoring. He had died.

could be any number of things caused it. Only an autopsy could tell you for sure. Heart attacks, strokes, heart failure, kidney failure, respiratory failure....any number of things.
