Hi,
I posted last year saying I was worried about having another child after my first daughter was born by emergency c-section, I suffered a collapsed lung and had to be recusetated (spelling sorry!) to breathe again. I spend the first night away from my daughter in Intensive Care.
Anyone else got any worse stories? Obviously with happy endings! Please no upsetting ones.....

Thanks to replys........its nice to know you went on to have another (button moon)
I had a crappy time.
I had pre-enclampsia, SPD, was taken in to be induced 4 days early, 20hrs of labour followed by an internal by a woman with the hands of a bouncer, epidural stopped working when I was 7cm dialated and in agony, rushed through to theatre, not topped up enough with epidural or given a spinal like I should of been"!, felt the blade cut through my tissue surrounding my womb, had to be knocked out, partner kicked out of the room so missed his first daughter being born, lung collapsed when removing breathing tube etc...and they couldnt recussetate me for ages, nearly ended up breaking through my front teeth as my jaw locked and they couldnt get tube back down.....taken to intensive care whilst my fiance was told i might not make it and it didnt look good, whilst he was trying to meet his baby for the first time. She was born at 22.08 on 20th January 2005, she's 2 tomorrow !

Hi,
I had an emergency c-section after going into very intense distress labor. As a matter of fact I had no idea it was labor because it wasnt what anybody had described. The contractions actually never let down or time in between and were very intense as you could imagine. After arriving at the hospital it took the doctors a little over an hour to make the decision to have the c-section because the babies heart rate was dropping rapidly. At this point about an hour and a half into labor I knew we were headed to the operating room, however, we were waiting for it to be sterilized. During the time the room was being sterilized the babies heart rate dropped to below 20 bpm. Scarey. Then came the overwhelming urge to push. I was dialted at 2cm. Baby wanted out, body wasnt ready. We went to go on for only a few more minutes to have the ob on top of me riding into the operating room keeping me under control. The only thing I remember from the operating room was being strapped down and counting to 1. It took me a little over 24 hours to come out of my state and did not get to see my baby. I was not told until the check up what actually happened in the operating room. My baby was born with the cord wrapped around her neck and had to be revived. My uterus hemorraged due to her traveling down the birth canal before dialation and I lost alot of blood. My baby was in intensive care for 7 days and I couldnt get out of my hospital bed for 5. Anyways, that baby girl is almost 18 years old. I said that I would never, ever have another one. Well, I was wrong. I have another girl who just turned 12 and I had a completely normal, natural child birth.

My baby was a premie, so when he was born I got to hold for for "a minute" (as the doctor said), and then he was swept off into the special care nursery.
He was born on a Monday at 5, and it wasn't until Wednesday morning that the doctor came and said he'd arrange for me to hold my baby. The regular nursery had one window, and there would be a cheerful crowd in front of that window. The special care nursery had only me and my husband, scared to death, looking in at the one baby who occupied an incubator there. People would come over and take a peek, and even though he was a healthy premie I heard a couple of people mention "that little sick baby" over there.
The nurses joked about how much he cried, but when I brought my healthy and adorable little man home he almost never, ever, cried. He was the nicest and brightest and sweetest little guy anyone could ever imagine, and he has grown to be a young man any mother would be super-proud of! (By the way - no question about it - there were absolutely no "bonding problems" between him and me.)
and yet - all these years later when I see premies on television it makes me want to cry.

not even nearly as bad as yours, but i lost a lot of blood after my first, and really remember anything, which i found a bit upsetting, although maybe that was good, i cant remember the pain either, i was in my local hospital and really didnt want to be transfered to the main one, luckily i stopped bleeding! had to have a bed bath which was very strange, im quite shy and never thought i have any stranger looking at my naked bod lol, but i didnt give a ****, was very funny
my second went smoothly, so smoothly that the only midwife on duty phoned the other one to come to hospital (local hospital again, no one else there), she told her "dont worry about rushing, shes not in that much pain, its going to be a while yet", about 4 mins later, baby was there hahaha, she couldnt understand how calm i was, and just assumed it would be hours to go, the other midwife turned up, she laughed when she came in "i guess im not needed now then, and laughed", i laughed too!

I began to hemmorage after the birth of my 1st baby. Everything got fuzzy (like the snow on the TV screen) and I remember saying "I need help". Then the doctor and nurses all ran up and put something in my IV and I wasn't able to sit up for a long time. I think your story is worse, just thought I would share mine.

My first birth was an awful experience, so it put me off having a second child for a while.
It was 28 hours with no end of complications.
My second child, however, was a really great birth it was over in an hour and an half, with no pain killers (because there wasn't time) so each birth is different.
