I know chronic pain really well. My meds just don't cut it either. Stretching the different muscles so they aren't stagnant and ball up from no use may help as well as warm bathes, heating pads or elevating your legs a little when you are lying down may help to.

I'm gonna guess that you have had physical therapy throughout your lifetime, I would continue to get some therapy to keep blood flow in the legs, and possibly strenghten muscles. Can you sit in a hot tub or spa? The warmth would be comforting and help ease the muscles. I too have chronic pain from degenerative disc disease and arthritis, going on 17yrs now. I've taken just about everything that they offered, I now take Methadone and it has been life changing for me. I would suggest talking to your doc about trying it, there are alot of rules and regs, but being in less pain has been wonderful......I am sure you know that the pain will never ever go completely away, but to get some relief is great, I wish I would have tried it earlier when it was offered. You might try acupuncture as well, or get a massage from a massage therapist. These are just ideas, I don't know if it will work in your situation, I know I got some temporary relief with regular massage.........I now have my daughter do it now, daily. There are support groups online that you can converse with others in the same situation.......sometimes just talking it out can help. Good luck.

Honey, I am sorry to hear about this but I also have lower disk problems and disk problems in my neck. With the two of these working against each other like a stroke and knee surgery there really isn't anything you can do but take your meds. If you don't take neurotin ask your doctor about it. I take it along with pain killers, valium, muscle relaxers, and antidepressants. As my doctor expained that pain causes depression, depression causes more pain it is a vicious cycle. I hope you all the best.
