Is their any name for some kind of disorder when someone goes through many relationships in a short period of time? By this I mean, they never become fully satisfied and always look for something (someone) new?

That isn't necessarily due to a mental disorder :-) BUT instability in relationships CAN be a characteristic of borderline personality disorder.

I thnk there is a possibility that this person has a mental illness! When you are bipolar, you have a very strong sex drive! When you are manic you almost just "flit" from one person to another, whether you are in a relationship with them or not! Also when being manic, you do risky things and don't fear the consequences! You think you are just having fun, and living the fast life! Then when you crash, you hate everyone and don't want them in your life any more! Causing you to feel dissatisfied with the person in your life at the time.
However, once you get on mediation, this all evens out and then we begin to feel we are in the "slow mode" and it feels uncomfortable for us. This makes us want to go off the medication so we can feel ALIVE AGAIN! Thus, the need for medication and therapy!

I agree with Morerow...it is not necessarily a sign of a disorder, but along with other symptoms and behaviors...intense, unstable, often short lived relationships are one of the signs of borderline personality disorder.

Sounds like unipolar. I heard of this a few years ago. Someone I knew had been married at least eight times not counting the relationships that did not end up in a short marriage. This condition is where the person thinks only of themselves all ways looking for something . Their not even sure what they are looking for. Usually they do better on psych meds.
