Should I really get punished for getting a D in Biology? I mean, its not like i'm just not doing anything. I get B's or A's on tests, and I just have a problem with getting homework in. They will probably take away my Playstaton. I know my grades aren't up to Par, but i've barely even touched my Playstation since I got it. They keep it in their room until the weekends, and my homework has to be finished in order for me to play it. I just don't want to lose it and not even play it on the weekends. Okay I have 6 honors classes, one AP class and a Programming class. I have one D, One C, and the rest are B's. I tripled up on Science. Chemistry, Biology, and Biotechnology. Don't I need a break?

Okay this is hard to explain. My designated high school is different than the one I actually go to. At my high school now, there is a special program called Science Technology and Industry. I was accepted and got to go to a brand new high school. But to do so, I had to pick a program. I picked a science oriented one Biotechnology. All the classes I take, the guidance counselor told me to take them. She didn't even give me a choice.

It sounds like you may have taken too much on. You have 8 extremely hard classes, maybe it's time you sit down first by yourself and determine if you really need all these classes for graduation or college acceptance. i realize that its too late in the year now to drop any, but maybe you need to be easier on yourself next go round. Once you determine what you really NEED to take nexttime, sit down with your parents and guidance counsler and explain that you feel its more important to you that you take the classes you really need and have time to get your work load finished than to overload yourself with difficult classes and not have time to get all the work done. Maybe you can opt for a study hall instead of a class that will challenge you but isn't really NEEDED. This will be an opertune time to get a head start on your homework.
In the meantime, talk to your parents about why your grades are struggling. They will probably still take away your P.S. but you need to be understanding with that if you want them to be understanding with you. Use your weekends, lunch periods, homeroom etc. to get a head start on longterm projects, to read ahead a few chapters in your books, or to review information you are struggling with, focus mostly on the classes that your grades are low in. you chose to take on all these tough classes, now you need to create a game plan to help you pass them. Yes, you need a break, but only after all your work is done. You said so yourself, your having problems getting it done so i would gather your "taking a break" when you should really be doing homework. And remember, your parents know your capable of more and want to push you to succeed becuase they care. And in the long run, your grades are much more important than a silly playstation so try and understand where they are coming from and be patient.
okay, so after reading your update, i decided to update my answer. If this is your chosen path of study, then you really have no excuse for getting a D or for not handing in your work. I'm not trying to sound harsh, but i'm sure you knew going into the program just how tough it was going to be. You need to get into the mindset that passing these courses is more important than anything else. If your so worried about your playstation and getting your parents off your back, let that be your inspiration for working harder. Talk to your guidance counsler about what you can do to improve. Maybe she can give you some time managment tips or something.

I think parents should find out first why the child is not doing as well as he should in certain subject. Then try to help to get the grades up. Of course I don't see anything wrong with some discipline, as long as no hitting is involved. If you are not doing well in school, try not to waste time on games and concentrate on schoolwork. After all, Playstation will not pay your bills when you become an adult- getting a college degree these days is more important than ever.

Quit whining!!!! You did not turn in the homework or you got into a great big hurry and did not give it your best effort. If you were my child I would take the Playstation, by the way, what grade are you in! That is a load of classes, but if you were not capable of being in those classes you wouldn't be. So my best advice to you if you ever want to see that Playstation again in this lifetime...is to crack the books and bring the grades up. Do extra credit or whatever you have to.

I think you do need a break.
But i also think that they are doing good by not letting you play the game until homework it done.
Why are you taking such a load of classes? Maybe you need to explain to them that you are taking too much and need to take less in order to focus more on those classes.
I don't blame you for that...if i were taking a lot of science classes at once I would probably be confused.

Its only because they care about you. Your parents probably know that you are more than capable of achieving a higher grade otherwise they wouldnt be as tough!! They probably think you are letting yourself down by not putting in 100% effort. Make sure you do all your homework and you wont have any problems cos you sound like a very bright kid. Dont waste yourself. Always do your best!! Good luck!!

Yes you do. All work and no play make people very boring.
But this is for your education and you will thank your parents one day. they want what is best for you. Just get your head down, get your homework in on time.!!! you must be bright so don't lose marks from missing course work.
maybe explain to your parents that if they gave a little and let you have a break then you would work harder.

I do not believe in punishing for bad grades. Although I am a parent and a teacher both I am not a big believer in homework. However, since it is given my kids are expected to do it. If they don't they are punished--and that is usually a paddling.
So since I think your parents are actually punishing you for not doing the homework (not the grade) I think it is fair.

No, I think your parents are right.
If they didn't punish you for a D, then you probably would think a D is okay and not so bad.
Well when you to college, a D is no good.
You're going to work extra hard now to get your grades back up to get your Playstation back.
They're just trying to help you.

Of course!!!!! I think that it's not fair that they would take it away. I'm not going to their side when I say this, but studying won't hurt. You're doing really good in my opinion. Try to keep your schedule open for homework time.
if your parents have high expectations them you should look up to them (grades, not neccessarily parents).
hope you can keep the playstation

I think you do. I mean these are HONORS classes. Add ten points to each grade and that's the grade you would make on a normal class. As long as you are TRULY trying, turning in all your work, and not spending all your time on video games, you should not be blamed. On the contrary, I think you should be punished somehow if your caretakers and you know in their/ your hearts that you are not trying to turn in work. Just try hard! You'll find your rythm!
