Though love is weak and hate is strong, hate is short and love is long.

You have to be careful there...assertiveness and hate are not the same thing. I know how it feels to really hate someone, and really love someone; hell, loads of people do. For me the intensity of the emotions are very similar. They both give you a huge amount of drive, it all depends how you use it. If you choose to do something in the name of either, you will usually pull through, because of the motivation it gives you. Both feel equally as satisfying at times, which really shouldn't be the case, but unfortunately you can get a positive buzz from really hating something or someone. It's just that, in my limited experience, hate generally tends to get you down after a while. Love and hate give you a kind of exponential motivational drive, the more you feel it, the more you get from it. But love is easier to justify, hate can end up with you questioning yourself...not nice. Just remember that these feelings can't be switched on or off like assertiveness and aggression. Be careful...losing control of either isn't good and can hurt you and everyone around you. Heh...now i just sound like Yoda :P

What gets you further in life...?

Being able to see beyond yourself, beyond the tip of your nose.

Better to Love or Hate?

Assertiveness or Niceness?

You already know the answers, though why does the last two have to be opposites, like Love & Hate?

Can you / we not be both nice and assertive? Does there have to be a polarity between them? Or does 'assertiveness' equate with something unplesant, be unlike nice!

Love, in its broadest terms, is inclusive, whereas Hate is exclusive.

Love is in itself, 'positive,' where Hate is 'negative,' although Hate is not the opposite to Love. Indifference is.

Sash.

Assertiveness doesn't mean that you're not a nice person. It just means that you are not putting up with nonsense and act in a confident way.
It doesn't mean either that you have to be angry and hate people to sustain your strengh.
It means that you do and say what you think is right because you believe in it and have made a choice you want to stick to.
Personally, I think that hating someone demands a lot of energy and it's really hard work.
I prefer to ignore someone when I know I have nothing to reproach myself with, and have done my best to either avoid a conflict or a bad atmosphere.

Love makes you stronger ...When you are in love you feel you can take on the world...when you hate you get all bitter and twisted and feel like you are on your own.
Niceness in an assertive way normally works for most people

Hate is only ever going to satisfy your ego. The ego is intrinsically selfish so it is only interested in itself and whatever it can materially gain to confirm its own existence. Being in tune with this means you will never have a true idea of what it feels to love and be loved. To give and not expect to receive, etc. It is such a clean and wholesome feeling, and it does help others too: you naturally wish to do so.

On another level I could simply say OPEN YOUR EYES: CAN YOU GUESS THE SHEER NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN THE WORLD THAT WERE HURT, MAIMED, KILLED INTENTIONALLY AT THE HANDS OF ANOTHER HUMAN BEING TODAY ALONE? DO YOU WANT TO PERPETUATE THAT?

Or, are you simply trying to stir up a little feeling? Ask yourself why. For your benefit or for other people's?
