God shows compassion to enable us to fulfill our promise both to Heaven and to earth. Compassion is God’s immense and intense concern for man. When I show compassion to others at the time of their need, and when I come to realize that it is God's plan for my life that I will follow, then I touch God's heart.

God offers mercy to everyone but only the ones who accept it obtain it.

It has to do with God's own pleasure and sovereign good will alone, toward's whomever He pleases, for His own glory.
