Is it possible to use powdered sugar instead of granulated sugar in order to make simple syrup? If so, what is the ratio of them?

You can make a simple syrup with powdered sugar, but it will be a bit cloudy and have a slightly different taste because of the small amounts of cornstarch in powdered sugar.

Keep the ratios the same as for simple syrup with regular sugar. Personally I agree with everyone else here who says " better to stick with regular sugar or superfine"

I don't think you'll get the same result from powdered sugar because of the way that regular sugar dissolves. You want a homogenous mixture, and confectioners sugar probably won't produce the desired result. Honestly, you should have regular, white sugar anyway... so you might as well get some. You could try making the simple syrup with powdered, but you may end up wasting it.

because the texture of these two sugar is totally different. therefore i wouldn't advise you to use powdered sugar(icing sugar) to make your syrup. from my mere baking knowledge, icing sugar will give you this thick gluey substance look, whereas only sugar can give you a clear syrup.

Of course. It just melts faster, that's all. What ratio? Start with a cup of sugar, add a small amount of water to start and continue adding hot water until you get the consistency and amount you want.

i'm pretty certain that powdered sugar contains some cornstarch, so i don't recommend it.
