Should I really get punished for getting a D in Biology? I mean, its not like i'm just not doing anything. I get B's or A's on tests, and I just have a problem with getting homework in. They will probably take away my Playstaton. I know my grades aren't up to Par, but i've barely even touched my Playstation since I got it. They keep it in their room until the weekends, and my homework has to be finished in order for me to play it. I just don't want to lose it and not even play it on the weekends.

The most important job that you have right now in your life is being a student and a good one at that! Do not lest YOURSELF down with less than average grades because of homework...that is just plain ole laziness...sorry, but that is the truth. If you were pulling a D and busting your bumm, well than that is a different story. Listen, high school is ONLY four years of your life and if you do not do your BEST at all times, I promise you will look back at it and have nothing but regrets. Do it for yourself! Study hard, work harder and the feeling of empowerment, of accomplishment and of pride will feel so, so, SO good! Believe it or not, high school is a good judge of what your future will be like. Would you choose not to hand in your homework assignments if you were getting paid for them? Think about it and remember... you want to do your best all the time for yourself! PlayStation will be around FOREVER to play with...school is very temporary (although I do understand that it doesn't feel that way) Trust me....try harder, be more vigilant about getting your assignments handed in; you will not regret it! Good luck and hang in there. If you do get PS taken away understand that your parents are doing so to make a point, that school and your grades so matter...and that they obviously love you!

Some people have more natural ability in certain areas that others. If the grade is the result of the child being lazy or not doing the work then yes, I think that they should be punished. However if the grade is because the student doesn't understand the material I think some leeway should be given, provided that the student made every effort to bring the grade up. This would mean asking the teacher for additional help and letting their parents know BEFORE report cards/progress reports that they are having difficulties.

I think parents should find out first why the child is not doing as well as he should in certain subject. Then try to help to get the grades up. Of course I don't see anything wrong with some discipline, as long as no hitting is involved. If you are not doing well in school, try not to waste time on games and concentrate on schoolwork. After all, Playstation will not pay your bills when you become an adult- getting a college degree these days is more important than ever.

My parents took away my car keys when I got Ds so I'd consider losing a Playstation that I never play anyway to be getting off lightly. If your grade in Biology is so trashed, maybe you should work harder on homework for that class?

Yes, if your grade is also based on your homework. I agree with your parents in not letting you play your Playstation until your howework is done. But since your grade was a "D" are you turning in your work? If your grade does not improve then yes I think they should take it away from you. School is very important for your future, Playstation is not. Turn your homework in.

Just be lucky your punishment is getting your video game taken away. When I was in middle school, every B i got = one hit with a stick on the back side of my feet, every C i got = 2, and i never got a D just to be safe. You'll get a better sense of accomplishment when you do better in school, which makes partying and playing games that much better.

My suggestion is do you homework and quit complaining.
If you had your Playstation during the week, you would be doing even less homework.
I have to side with your parents on this one. Seems that they are trying to get you to work to your potential in school. Show them that you can get all your work done (including homework) before you ask tham for your Playstation during the week.
Good luck in school!!!

i'm guessing your in high school because you take biology. just remember the grades your getting now will be seen when you go apply for colleges. you should be earning these grades for yourself, not to just get your playstion back.
i know a kid like you, he gets all A's on tests but never does homework, don't waste your intelligence.

If what you say is true then i think the punishment is too harsh. However, I will say that it works. Think about it .. dont you feel like you will be studying a little harder next time ?? .. I dont think your parents do it to make your life misserable .. the ydo it cuz they love you. If they did not love you they would let you do what ever you please and then end up being a nobody.
