Yes. It's a fungus. You can treat it with over the counter anti-fungal creams such as Miconazole, tolnaftate, etc. You'll find them in the area of the store that sells foot creams and creams for jock itch.

You need to apply them as directed for 10 days minimum. Don't stop putting it on before the 10 days is up just because you can't see it anymore. It's still there...you have to kill it.

It usually stays on you until you treat it. In addition to an antifungal cream, like lotrimin, I suggest an antifungal shampoo called Nizoral. It is not the same as Head and Shoulders, and has a completely different active ingredient. Use the Nizoral to was the ringworm spots or anywhere else on your body where you may have fungus/ringworm.

Wow. Maybe when I was a little kid. My father's ex-wife ran an ad-hoc cattery and I think I once had to put a cream on or take some kind of pills. Or the cats got the pills and I got the cream. Too small. Don't remember well.

Yup, when I was little (around 9) i had it on the SIDE OF MY FACE. It wasn't extreme but you could tell it was there. I guess I got it from rolling in the ground or something haha. I believe it lasted for at least a week or so.
