Go to a groomer or vet and have the dog's anal glands expressed. It's something they do naturally but can get backed up.

If you don't have the problem taken care of, you can run the risk of the glands becoming impacted. If this happens, it requires surgery (which isn't cheap). But, if the person doesn't know what they are doing it can cause them to become impacted as well (so can a host of other things, i.e. shampoo not being thoroughly rinsed off).

I have a dog that did this for no known reason for quite some time but did eventually stop. She did it more when she had been around other dogs. Really I think she just thought she smelled pretty and wanted everything else to smell like her....she'd so vain =)

Could be worms but this is also a natural way dogs empty there anal glands. Sometimes if they are blocked it can make a dog rub its bum along the ground to try and alleviate it, however it does sound like you dog is having trouble doing that, so it is off to the vet for your pooch i am afraid.

Sometimes they can get infected and you may need a course of Antibiotics and if they keep getting blocked the vet will opt to have them removed.

They are two small sacs sitting just inside the sphincter muscle inside the anus, and they make dog smell really good to other doggies, this is why they sniff there butts.

So if you wormed your dog and seen worms in the poo then re-worm in 2 week to get rid of eggs if you really don't think it is worms because you worm your dog all the time then i bet your bottom dollar it is it's anal glads. Which will need the doc

Take your dog to the groomer,
It's sounds like her anual glands are full of fluid.
A groomer *be sure to ask if they clean the anual glands.*
OR
Go to the vet, it will cost 10-15 dollars to have the anual glands expelled. It's a really gross smell.
The vet will also charge a fee for a visit. it's good to take your dog yearly for it's medical check-up/shots etc.

This sound like anual glands, and they just need someone to clean them for you.

Once the vet does it, you may have to do it once a month.

I have a cocker spaniel and it's part of dog ownership with that breed.

Hello this might be anal glands that need to be expressed or a sign of worms. Time to call the vet either way :) Good luck

similar difficulty with my dogs, it became this consistent attempting to save his head up that were given my interest. i found that by utilising slightly rigidity below the chin to the below the chest helped. i imagine it became some thing he had eaten/swallowed that had likely gotten stuck in his throat? i visit't say for positive. At evening i'd prop his head up so a minimum of he might want to get some sleep. stay calm, stay with him, and with any success by morning he will be extra useful. do not provide him some thing to devour, and day after today once you do, provide him 0.5 of what you would possibly want to generally, and similar back at evening - feed him 3 cases an afternoon once you should, take him for a walk previously mattress, he might want to properly be constipated to boot, verify his poo's.

My dog was doing the same thing. I'm so glad I took him to the vet. He had two impacted anal glands. Once they were released my dog acted as if he was a puppy, running around, happy as could be. My advise, take him to the vet, impacted anal glands drive your pet crazy.

Dogs have an anal sack that gets filled with fluid. The fluid needs to be removed. She will try to remove it herself by 'scooting' along the ground. A good groomer or a vet will remove it for you. I've also heard that adding pumpkin or squash to her diet will help reduce the fluid gather-up.

I would say she has worms. (Been there with a cat.) They move around in side there and make her itch. Take her to the Vet. She'll be a much happier camper.

This behavior is consistent with impacted anal glands. Take her to the vet - they can show you how to express them yourself - gross but necessary.

Worms or flea allergies would be my guess. Take her to the vet, he'll know.
