I know that ozone holes are holes in the ozone layer but besides that, I'm clueless. What exactly causes the holes in the ozone layer? How does it cause holes?

CFC's are what cause holes in the ozone layer. CFC is a chemical in microwaves, freezers, refridgerators, etc. When the chemcial is released into the air it burns hole's in the ozone layer. It's mainly carbon released into the air which also comes from the car exhaust pipe. The hole's in the ozone layer causes the light waves to come in stronger to our atmosphere which causes cancer causing rays to be more widespread. It also makes the world hotter which causes the north and south poles to melt. Therefore, it causes global warming. If not for the ozone layer we'd all be dead. So consider it important because it blocks off the sun rays from reaching us in high levels of heat and warmth.

The ozone layer is very high and is caused when the solar winds collide with the earth's magnetic field . another name for it is the Van Allen Belt. The holes occur at the poles as the tilt of the earth gets good for the particles to blow a hole in the ozone layer. The atoms in the solar wind are ionized by the tremendous heat of the sun. As they come closet to the earth they are influenced by the magnetic field. The Beta particles are attracted to the north pole and make it negative. The Alfi particles are attracted to the south pole and it is positive. This charge across the Van Allen belt has a tremendous current which holds the ionized particles ionized. When we launch a satellite through this layer the high voltage must be off or it will arc over and burn it up. The CFC have nothing to do with it.
