I know the feelings, they're addictive. I hate to say this but the accidental cutting is still cutting, you're just excusing it by saying it was unintentional. I've been a cutter for 13 years and there is no way to just quit, it's not like smoking where it's 99% physical. I've never been able to just quit.
I slow down when I have a great support network, whether friends or online.
Please don't kill yourself, I know that it feels like no one cares now, but after trying it, I know how bad the hurt in my mother's eyes pained me.
If it helps, there is a self-harm network support at www.recoveryourlife.com. There help is huge, and it's good to know you're not the only one out there who feels like this!
My email is always available too if you need it. Big hugs.

As you probably know, cutting actually can help you feel better when emotions become overwhelming.
Ummmm....which also provides a real opportunity for it to become addictive.
But try and look at it this way : You feel totally stressed, so you go out and get stoned drunk. Granted you feel better for a while, but the problems that have caused you to feel stressed in the first place are still exactly the same the next day.
So while you may have helped things in the moment......you really have done nothing at all to deal with the root problem.
And on top of that.....you"re addicted.
Great, huh ??
And no, it's pretty unlikely you will kill yourself.....but I would make a real effort to not use that as a reason to......give in to the temptation. Because some people really can get addicted to this in ways that are not where you want to find yourself going. I have several close friends who have been stuck in this situation for years now....so it can happen, for sure.
Of course the real solution would be to get yourself to a place where you are not having this overwhelming stress in the first place. You know : deal with the cause, rather than being stuck trying to deal with the effects ??
So.....the counselling thing ?
That really is something you could try.....and see for yourself if it helps ?

Well if you want to stop take away all the sharp things. When someone has a problem like cutting certain things make them want to do it more. So avoid anything you link to cutting.
Try to stop yourself whenever you feel the urge, try to get up and do something else, wrap ribbons or cloth around your arms or wear long sleeves to avoid looking at your skin and thinking of cutting it. Find some sort of hobby or art that can give you the same feeling.

Ok. Cutting will make your problems worse. Cutting dosen't release problems, it just leaves you in more pain and leaves scars behind to remind you of them. Get some help, or try to do something else to releive yourself. Hang out with friends, good friends that won't encourage you to cut or listen to music. Go to shows and have fun. Trust me, it may seem that many people cut but to me, it dosent look like your super addicted, which is good. Stop now before you can't stop.

you need counselling.
I'm an ex-cutter. I know what that release feels like, and hey - it's easier to deal with physical pain!
Honestly, though, the cutting will not cure the problem, and ultimately it may make matters worse.
Please, seek some counselling, no one has to know if you are embarrased by it.
When you get older, you wont want to keep explaining the scars to everyone you meet.
Good luck, honey!

You are goth? and a cutter? girl sounds like you have symptoms of depression. I was a cutter for years. I hid it very well but when I finally got help I did move on.. I still had those issues after therapy every now and then I would think about it but I quit acting on it.. Everyone has crazy thoughts in their head.. but those who act on it- NEED PROFESSIONAL HELP!!! I went thru about 4 therapists before I found one that actually listened and tried to help me thru my issues. one simply tried to OD me on medication and others just weren't listening. Talk to your normal physician and they can discuss possible anti-depressants and/OR direct you towards an appropriate therapist or counseling clinic. I really hope you get the help you need and deserve.

i just started cutting again myself. Try talking to someone you trust who wont freak out. Usually this ends up being a professional. Its hard to ask for help but cutting is definitely not going in the right direction.

Any feeling fully accepted is fully transcended -- in other words a feeling once felt totally will go away.
