To do my laundry it's $1.25 each time... and that is for a small load. I was wondering if anyone knows how to cheat the system and stick it to the Man. Are there any tricks or tips to somehow get these old industrial washers and dryers going without having to feed it quarters????....

I am deffinatly having this same problem. Laundry at my (school oriented) apartment building runs at least 1.25 per load, not counting drying. Some people suggest washing your laundry in the tub or sink, but if your dorm is anything like my apartment, we only have showers and itty bitty bathroom sinks. And I know sometimes home is just too far away. All that being said, I deffinatly empathize with your situation. I know no short cuts, but would suggest:

1)babysit or make friends off campus. You may be able to find someone who will let you do your laundry at their house.
2) Look in the paper for cheap apartments for next semester. Just make sure that when you call, you find out if a washer/dryer is included. It is deffinatly worth up to 40 extra dollars a month to get those appliences.
3) Go to a laundry mat. The washers are bigger there, so less individual loads. And the dryers work better.
4) Do laundry with a friend. That way if you each have half a load you can team up and not have to pay for a whole one.
5) Jeans can be worn several times between washings, as long as you aren't majoring in mud slinging or something.

Also, you might want to talk to other people on campus and see how they deal. If you can think of any other ideas, I would be very intersted in hearing them.

Sorry, I don't deal with things like that and you shouldn't either. Check around, maybe you can find a legal way to get your clothes washed. Maybe you can find someone who will let you use their washer and dryer for a small fee; enough to pay for the water. You can furnish your own soap.
Good luck.

Let's see if I understand you correctly. You want to "stick it to the man" because "the man" is charging you to use their equipment and water, electricity and maintenance. Hell, who do they think they are anyway!? Why isn't life just a free ride with no responsibilities, for crying out loud! GROW UP. If you don't like paying someone else for it, buy your own washer and dryer and pay utilities like the rest of the world.
