The guy I've been seeing is stressing about his work situation - he's not particularly happy in his current job, and he's been offered a few other jobs in different places. He says he doesn't want to be involved with anyone at the moment, he just wants to take his time to decide about jobs without anyone else (ie me) getting in the way. I understand about the whole "I don't want to be with anyone at the moment" being a crap way to say he doesn't want to be with me, and totally understand about the importance of work satisfaction. But does work really cause men *this* much stress? I've never met a woman who stresses quite as much about work as men.

As we approach our late 20's the groundwork of what will be our career is trying to be established. If we don't do this, we know it will be very hard to attract a women at our older age. No house, no career= no women, no family.

Look at New Zealand and Australia. Men in the 25-35 bracket are leaving to go find better work and build their careers. As a result there is a "man drought" in these areas.

So often, and unfortunately so...a man's identity is intertwined with his job. Give him his space. Make yourself not as dependent or needy for his attention. Let him know that you care. And to call you when and if he needs to talk. Until then, let him be.
